Iter: Journal of Protection Studies is an international, independent, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to bridging a critical gap in knowledge. The journal seeks to establish protection as a middle-range field of study that intersects with diverse areas such as the protection of human rights defenders, humanitarian protection in crisis responses, protection in peacebuilding efforts, and protection by unarmed civilian peacekeeping, among others.
The journal aims to foster critical analysis and build connections between theory, policy, and practice. We welcome academics, practitioners, and activists to engage in reflective discussions about protection and its intersection with other fields, focusing on the implications for affected individuals, duty-bearers, and other protection actors.
Currently under development, the journal will accept a variety of contributions, including research articles, shorter pieces such as notes and reflections, reviews of publications, humour and artistic interventions, and other forms of scholarly and practitioner work. High-quality submissions that do not conform to the traditional research article format are particularly encouraged. Our editorial team prioritizes substance and rigor, ensuring that all submissions are carefully classified into the most suitable article type.
